Storm Chandra to Bring Strong Winds to Cork Tomorrow
Strong gusty winds expected, especially on coasts.
Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Wind Warning for Cork and six other counties as Storm Chandra, officially named this morning by the UK Met Office, is set to bring very strong and gusty conditions from early Tuesday morning.
The warning, issued at 11:20 this morning, affects Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Louth, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow from 5am tomorrow until 11pm tomorrow evening.
Winds associated with Storm Chandra will be particularly strong and gusty about the coasts and along exposed areas, according to Met Éireann's warning.
The forecaster has highlighted several possible impacts, including fallen trees and loose debris, wave overtopping, and hazardous travel conditions across the affected regions.
Cork residents are advised to secure loose objects, avoid unnecessary travel during the worst of the conditions, and stay away from coastal areas where wave overtopping may occur.
The storm marks the latest in a series of named weather systems to affect Ireland this winter season, with Storm Chandra following the alphabetical naming convention used by meteorological services across Ireland and the UK.
