Storm Bram leaves 54,000 without power as ESB crews battle to restore supply

Thousands of homes, farms and businesses across Ireland, including Cork, are without electricity this afternoon as Storm Bram batters the country, with ESB Networks warning that further outages are likely while weather warnings remain in place.

As of 4pm on Tuesday 9 December, approximately 54,000 customers are affected by power cuts, with counties Wexford, Cork, Tipperary, Kildare, Dublin, Meath and Westmeath among the worst hit areas.

ESB Networks crews and partner contractors have been deployed across the country to assess damage, make the network safe and restore supply. However, with Met Éireann Status Orange and Yellow warnings still active, conditions remain challenging and additional outages are expected throughout the day.

The company has acknowledged the disruption caused to families and businesses, thanking customers for their patience as restoration work continues in difficult circumstances.

Estimated restoration times will be updated on PowerCheck.ie as network assessments are completed. Customers can sign up for the "Keep me Updated" service on the site to receive status updates directly.

ESB Networks has issued a critical safety warning: fallen wires or damaged electricity infrastructure should never be touched or approached, as they remain live and extremely dangerous. Any damage to the network should be reported by calling 1800 372 999.
