Storm Amy: Yellow Rainfall and Wind Warnings Issued for Cork
Storm Amy: Cork under Yellow rain warning today until 8pm, Yellow wind warning Friday.

The UK Met Office has named Storm Amy as the weather system bringing significant rainfall and strong winds to Cork and much of Ireland, with weather alerts extending into Friday.
Cork is under a Status Yellow rainfall warning from 6:00 to 20:00 on Thursday 2 October, with widespread rain and heavy downpours expected throughout the day. The warning also covers Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford in Munster, alongside nine other counties.
Kerry has been upgraded to Status Orange for rainfall during the same period, reflecting more severe conditions expected in the southwest.
Storm Amy will continue to impact Cork into Friday, with a nationwide Status Yellow wind warning in effect from 12:00 to midnight on Friday 3 October. An additional Status Orange wind warning has been issued for five northwestern counties from 14:00 to 22:00 on Friday.
A Status Red marine warning has been issued from Loop Head to Rowan Point to Fair Head, valid from 14:00 to 20:00 on Friday, indicating storm force conditions at sea.
Potential impacts from Storm Amy include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, debris and displaced objects, fallen trees, and isolated coastal spray overtopping.
Cork residents are advised to allow extra time for journeys on Thursday, drive with caution through surface water, and secure loose objects ahead of Friday's strong winds. Those in flood-prone areas should take precautions to protect property. Coastal areas should avoid unnecessary exposure during Friday afternoon and evening due to the Red marine warning and potential spray overtopping.
Met Éireann urges the public to monitor met.ie and the Met Éireann app for the latest updates as Storm Amy continues to develop.
