Storm Amy brings 160mm rain to Beara Peninsula with flooding and road damage across West Cork.

Cork County Council is urging motorists to exercise extreme caution as Storm Amy continues to batter the county, with West Cork bearing the brunt of severe weather conditions that have brought flooding and significant road damage.
More than 160mm of rain has fallen on the Beara Peninsula since Thursday morning, making it the worst-hit area in the county. The deluge has caused flooding and severe damage to road surfaces across West Cork, whilst a Status Yellow Wind warning remains in place until midnight tonight, Friday, 3rd October.
Council crews are actively responding to incidents across the affected areas. Fallen trees have been cleared from Lower Farran and from the Coppeen to Enniskeane Road, but officials warn that high winds continue to pose dangers from additional falling trees and power lines.
Cork County Council has issued clear advice for road users: driving conditions remain hazardous with surface flooding and debris likely. Motorists are strongly advised to drive with caution, avoid driving through flood waters, and remain conscious of cyclists and pedestrians.
The Dursey Cable Car will remain closed to the public today and tomorrow, Saturday, due to forecasted high winds in the area.
The Irish Coast Guard is urging the public to stay away from coastal areas during this period, with their message being clear: "Stay Back, Stay High, Stay Dry".
