Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Ireland, with strong and gusty southwesterly winds expected to bring disruption throughout Thursday.

The warning is valid from midnight on Thursday, 12 March 2026 until 18:00 that evening, giving Cork residents the best part of a day to contend with blustery conditions.

Forecasters are warning of difficult travelling conditions, with debris and loose objects likely to be displaced and the possibility of fallen branches or trees.

Commuters and those travelling on Thursday are advised to allow extra time and take care, particularly on exposed routes. Drivers of high-sided vehicles should be especially cautious.
