Status Yellow Rain Warning Issued for Cork as Heavy Showers Expected

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry, with the alert in effect from this morning until 9am tomorrow.

The national weather service issued the warning at 09:11 this morning, with an update following at 09:16. The alert remains valid until 09:00 on Saturday morning.

Met Éireann is forecasting rainfall accumulations from heavy showers or longer spells of rain across both counties throughout the warning period.

The forecaster has highlighted several potential impacts for Cork residents. Localised flooding is possible in vulnerable areas, while poor visibility may affect drivers on routes including the N40, M8, and other major roads across the county.

Difficult travelling conditions are expected, particularly during periods of heavier rainfall. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow extra time for journeys.

The warning covers the full 24-hour period, meaning Cork residents should remain alert for changing conditions from now through to tomorrow morning.

Those living in flood-prone areas should monitor conditions closely and take appropriate precautions. Surface water may accumulate quickly during heavier downpours.

The Status Yellow alert is the lowest level of weather warning but indicates conditions that could impact daily activities and travel plans across Cork and Kerry.
