Met Éireann's Status Orange rain warning for Cork and Waterford has now come into effect and will remain in place until 05:00 tomorrow morning.
Heavy rain and possible thundery downpours are expected across the county, with the potential for significant impacts overnight.
The national forecaster has warned of possible river flooding, particularly in mountainous areas, along with very difficult travelling conditions throughout the warning period.
The Status Orange alert, issued at 09:03 this morning, represents the second highest level of weather warning and indicates a significant risk to people and property.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the warning period, secure outdoor items, and stay alert for further updates from emergency services.
The warning will remain in effect until 05:00 on Sunday morning, 19 October 2025.
