St Patrick's Bridge Footpaths to Close for Emergency ESB Works

Sections of footpaths on St Patrick's Bridge and Camden Quay will be closed from today until Friday as ESB carries out emergency upgrade works in Cork city centre.

Cork City Council has announced that corners of the western footpath on St Patrick's Bridge and the southern footpath on Camden Quay and Camden Place will be temporarily closed to pedestrians. The affected area runs from the junction with Christy Ring Bridge to the junction with Lavitt's Quay.

The closures, which began today, Monday 3 November, will remain in place until Friday 7 November to facilitate the emergency ESB upgrade works. The council has confirmed that closures will be kept localised to minimise disruption to pedestrians crossing between the northside and city centre.

Pedestrian diversions will be in place for all routes. Nodwells, the construction company carrying out the works, will manage the temporary arrangements.

St Patrick's Bridge, one of Cork's most recognisable landmarks and a key pedestrian route connecting the northside to Patrick Street, sees significant daily footfall from commuters, shoppers and tourists. The emergency nature of the ESB works suggests the upgrade cannot wait for a more convenient time.

The location details and diversion routes are available on MapAlerter, Cork City Council's alert system for road and footpath closures across the city.
