Pedestrians crossing St. Patrick's Bridge will need to use the eastern footpath from tomorrow as ESB Networks begins essential electricity cable repairs that will close the western side for approximately three weeks.

The works, announced by Cork City Council this morning, will see the upstream footpath on St. Patrick's Bridge closed to pedestrians starting Monday, 6th October in the interest of public safety.

ESB Networks will be carrying out repairs to electricity cables on the bridge. Pedestrians will be diverted onto the eastern, or downstream, side of the bridge for the duration of the works.

Cork City Council is asking people to follow directional signage on site.

Vehicular traffic will be unaffected by the works, meaning cars, buses and other vehicles can continue to use the bridge as normal.

The repairs are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, bringing the works into late October.
