South Mall Resurfacing Works to Take Place Tonight and Tomorrow
Road resurfacing works on sections of the South Mall tonight and tomorrow night, 7.30pm to 6am. Access to businesses will be maintained wherever possible.
Cork City Council will carry out road resurfacing works on sections of the South Mall tonight (Wednesday 07 October) and tomorrow (Thursday 08 October), from 7.30pm to 6am.
The works form part of the council's ongoing road maintenance programme and had been identified as a priority improvement scheme to address existing surface defects.
The timing has been coordinated to coincide with traffic management arrangements associated with the upcoming Red Bull Homerun Cork event this weekend. According to the council, coordinating the works at this time allows the scheme to be completed efficiently while minimising future disruption to businesses, residents and road users.
Access to businesses and properties in the area will be maintained wherever possible throughout the works. Cork City Council's Roads Operations team has been liaising directly with affected stakeholders, including local businesses and hotels, to minimise disruption and accommodate guest access requirements.
Some noise is unavoidable during the initial planing and preparation stages. Every effort will be made to complete the noisier elements of the works as early as possible each evening.
The council has thanked local businesses, residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation while the maintenance works are completed.
