Six Cork Primary Schools Selected for Cork County Council's Frameworks Programme

Six primary schools across Cork have been chosen to take part in Frameworks, a Cork County Council initiative that brings original works from the Cork County Art Collection directly into the classroom.

Cork County Council has announced the six schools selected for the programme, which brings pieces from the Council's civic art collection into schools across the county.

The successful schools are Curraglass National School in Conna, Ballinora National School in Waterfall, Watergrasshill National School, Bishop Ahern National School in Leamlara, Dromore National School in Bantry, and Muinefliuch National School in Macroom.

Through the programme, each school will act as temporary custodian of works from the Council's civic art collection, taking part in a creative learning journey led by a professional artist-in-residence. The collection spans painting, drawing, print, photography, video and sculpture, and features established and emerging artists, many of whom are based in Cork.

Pupils will explore and respond to the artworks through a series of artist led workshops, developing their understanding of visual arts and creating collaborative pieces inspired by the collection.

The programme will conclude with a showcase event at each participating school, where the borrowed artworks and the pupils' creative responses will be displayed for families, friends and the wider school community.

Frameworks is funded through Creative Ireland and is delivered free of charge to participating schools, as part of Cork County Council's ongoing commitment to supporting arts and creativity across communities in the county.
