Shadows of the Clock Returns to Youghal Clock Gate Tower This Halloween

Cork County Council and Living Youghal are inviting visitors to explore the darker side of Youghal's history this Halloween, with the return of Shadows of the Clock, a series of after-dark tours at the Clock Gate Tower.

The guided tours will take place on 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 October 2026. They depart at 6pm and 7pm each evening, and each lasts approximately one hour. An additional adult-only (18+) tour will run at 8pm on 29, 30 and 31 October.

The Clock Gate Tower has played a prominent role in Youghal's history for centuries. It originally served as part of the town's fortifications and later operated as a prison, so its walls hold plenty of stories of punishment, unrest and intrigue. Shadows of the Clock will bring some of these lesser-known aspects of the Tower's past to life through a specially curated storytelling experience.

The event is being delivered by Living Youghal on behalf of Cork County Council, as part of ongoing efforts to showcase the town's heritage and enhance its cultural tourism offering.
