Schools Urged to 'Stand 4 Féile' This Friday in Show of Community Support

Over 100 schools across Cork and Kerry are set to splash colour across classrooms this Friday in support of a West Cork woman recovering from a life-changing injury.

The 'Stand 4 Féile' Jersey Day takes place on Friday, 20th March, calling on students, teachers, staff, and the wider community to wear their favourite jersey and make a small donation to support Féile O'Sullivan's ongoing recovery.

Féile suffered a life-changing accident on her family farm in Allihies, West Cork, last July. Funds raised through the Jersey Day will go directly towards essential rehabilitation support and future care for her.

The event is being co-ordinated by a voluntary group of former Cork and Kerry GAA players. Brookfield Leisure Centre in Cork has also pledged its support, along with a number of SuperValu stores in Castletownbere, Kenmare, Bantry, and Skibbereen, and Centra stores in Kenmare and Ballymakeera.

Féile's mother, Maureen O'Sullivan, said the family has been overwhelmed by the response:

"Féile and our family have been amazed by the community support shown to us since her accident last July, and leading up to this Friday's 'Stand 4 Féile' Jersey Day. We're very grateful to all the schools who've signed up to take part so far, and we're urging every school across Cork and Kerry to join in on the fun and register to take part this Friday to support Féile's recovery."

While the initiative is primarily aimed at Cork and Kerry schools, all schools, clubs, colleges, and workplaces across the country are welcome to take part.

As an added incentive, participating schools will be entered into a draw to win a brand-new set of jerseys, generously provided by O'Neills Sports. Four primary schools (two in Cork, two in Kerry) and four secondary schools (two in Cork, two in Kerry) will each receive a set.

Schools are encouraged to share photos and videos from the day on social media using #Stand4Féile to help spread awareness of Féile's story.

There is still time to sign up. Schools can register to take part at www.gaacork.ie/stand4feile.
