Road Closures in Lehenaghmore as Major Works Begin

Motorists in the south of the city are being advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes as a section of Pouladuff Road has been closed for major pipe laying works, with disruption expected for at least two weeks.

Cork City Council announced yesterday that road closures and diversions are now in place in the Lehenaghmore area, affecting Lehenaghmore, Forge Hill, and Pouladuff Road.

The southern section of Pouladuff Road, between its junction with the Togher Road and Forge Hill, has been closed to facilitate the handover of existing homes and the construction of more than 150 new affordable homes in the area.

The council noted that the timing of the works, while the Lehenaghmore road improvement scheme is already underway, will also prevent the need to reopen a newly laid road at a later date.

Bus timetables may also be affected at certain times during the works.

Contractors plan to work extended hours, including on Saturdays, in an effort to fast-track the project and finish ahead of schedule.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, allow extra time for journeys, plan alternative routes, and follow the diversion signs in place.

Those wishing to stay updated on the traffic management plan can register by emailing obrlehenaghmore@obrgroup.ie or by visiting the Lehenaghmore project updates page.

Cork City Council thanked the public for their patience during these essential works.
