Revenue Seizes Over €324,000 in Contraband in Week-Long Operation
Revenue seizes over €324,000 in drugs, counterfeit goods and contraband in week-long operation across Dublin, Midlands and Rosslare Europort.
Revenue officers seized contraband valued at over €324,670 during operations across Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort over the past week commencing 30 November.
The detections resulted from risk profiling and intelligence-led operations. Officers seized significant quantities of illicit drugs, counterfeit goods, tobacco products, alcohol, and weapons.
The largest seizure involved 11.226kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €225,380. Officers also confiscated 701.4g of cannabis resin valued at over €4,200, and 2.69kg of edibles worth over €2,670.
Additional drug seizures included cannabinoid vapes and liquid valued at €1,735, along with various other illicit drugs worth over €3,730. The various illicit drugs consisted of butane honey oil, cannabis oil, reefers, various tablets including Zopiclone and Alprazolam, vape liquids, psilocin drops, psilocin truffles, synth cannabinoids, tramadol hidrocoide, diazepam, THC shots, psilocybin grow kits, and rape yamanawa mulateriro.
Detector dog Ciara assisted with the herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures. The parcels originated from the USA, UK, Spain, India, and Canada, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
Revenue officers also seized tobacco products with an estimated value of over €4,255, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €3,235. The tobacco products were branded King and Huang Sang, Parker & Simpson, Karelia, John Player Blue, Red Bull Virginia, and Casablanca Tobacco.
Over 86.36 litres of alcohol were confiscated with an estimated value of over €2,000, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,400. The alcohol consisted of wine, beer, and spirits.
Officers seized 218 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €80,700. The counterfeit goods were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. The counterfeit goods were Rolex, Ugg, Chanel, Nike, Polo, Canada Goose, Stone Island, Louis Vuitton, New Balance, Burberry, Christian Dior, Omega, North Face, Lululemon, and Gucci.
Ninety-five weapons were also seized, consisting of fireworks and an airsoft handgun.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing. These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
