Revenue Seizes Over €317,000 in Contraband During Week-Long Operations
The contraband was destined for addresses nationwide.

Revenue officers have seized contraband worth more than €317,810 in intelligence-led operations across Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort over the past week.
The seizures, which commenced on 8th September, targeted smuggling and shadow economy activity as part of Revenue's ongoing enforcement operations.
Officers seized 5.9kg of herbal cannabis valued at almost €119,000, alongside 544g of cannabis resin worth over €3,250. Additional illicit drugs with an estimated value of over €5,700 were also recovered during the operations.
The drug seizures were made through risk profiling and with assistance from detector dog Ciara. Parcels originated from the USA, Netherlands, UK, Canada, and India, and were destined for addresses nationwide.
Revenue also seized tobacco products worth over €5,600, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €2,500. The cigarettes included brands such as Alem Mar, Benson & Hedges, Silk Cut, Rothmans, Pueblo and Amber Leaf.
Two litres of spirits were confiscated, valued at almost €60 and representing a €45 loss to the exchequer.
Officers seized 581 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €184,200. The fake goods bore luxury brand names including Nike, Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, North Face, Canada Goose, and Dolce & Gabbana. Rights holders confirmed the items infringed intellectual property rights.
Four weapons were also recovered, consisting of a tactical revolver and pepper spray, along with almost 400 firecrackers.
The various illicit drugs included cocaine, heroin, magic mushrooms, cannabis oil, edibles, and benzodiazepine among others.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing. Revenue continues to target smuggling operations that undermine legitimate businesses and deprive the state of vital tax revenue.
