Revenue Seizes Over €263,000 in Contraband Across Ireland in Week-Long Operation
Revenue seizes over €263,000 in drugs, tobacco, counterfeit goods and weapons in week-long operation across Ireland.
Revenue officers have seized contraband valued at over €263,350 during operations across Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort, and Waterford over the past week, with investigations ongoing into all seizures.
The detections, which took place during the week commencing 29 September 2025, were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence-led operations. The haul included significant quantities of drugs, tobacco products, counterfeit goods, and weapons.
Officers seized 6.47kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of almost €127,200. The cannabis parcels, which originated from Spain, the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, Bilbao, and Thailand, were destined for various addresses nationwide. The seizures were made with the assistance of detector dog Milo.
Tobacco products worth over €77,400 were also confiscated, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €60,800. The largest single tobacco seizure occurred during a search of a market in North County Dublin on Sunday, 5 October 2025. Officers discovered over 69,000 cigarettes, along with 5.75kg of tobacco and a quantity of cigars, with an estimated retail value of over €67,400 and a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €53,100.
The tobacco products included brands such as Marlboro, Winston, L&M, Kent, Richmond, Benson & Hedges Gold, and Parliament Aqua Blue, among others.
Officers also seized over 390g of Butane Honey Oil valued at over €7,800, and various other illicit drugs worth over €1,750. These drugs consisted of cannabis oil, edibles, reefers, synthetic cannabinoids, assorted tablets, cannabis resin, kratom powder, and psilocybin growing kits.
A total of 125 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €49,200, were seized after being confirmed by rights holders to have infringed on intellectual property rights. The fake goods included designer clothing and footwear from brands including Adidas, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Nike, North Face, Canada Goose, and O'Neills, among others.
Forty-two weapons, consisting of pyrotechnics and fireworks, were also confiscated during the operations.
All seizures form part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
