Revenue Seizes Over €135,000 in Contraband in Week-Long Operations

Revenue officers have seized contraband with an estimated value of over €135,000 following a series of intelligence-led operations across Dublin, Kilkenny, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort during the week commencing 16 February 2026.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and targeted operations, with seizures spanning illicit drugs, counterfeit goods, tobacco, alcohol, and weapon accessories.

The largest single seizure was 4.7kg of herbal cannabis, valued at over €94,000, followed by 2.4kg of cannabis resin worth over €14,000. Officers also intercepted 1,698 assorted tablets valued at over €4,000, along with various other illicit drugs, including ecstasy, edibles, cannabinoid vape liquids, synthetic cannabinoids, butane honey oil, and cannabis oil, totalling over €6,000 in estimated value.

The drug parcels originated from Canada, the United States, Thailand, Spain, and France, and were destined for addresses across Ireland.

Tobacco products valued at €9,345 were also seized, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of €7,145. Brands intercepted included Golden Virginia, Amber Leaf, Marlboro, Camel, and several others. Over 84 litres of wine and spirits, valued at €1,485 and representing a potential exchequer loss of over €925, were also taken.

Twenty-three counterfeit items, confirmed by rights holders to have infringed intellectual property rights, were seized and valued at over €7,000. The goods included fake versions of brands such as Chanel, Dior, Canada Goose, Alexander McQueen, and The North Face, among others.

Two weapon accessories were also intercepted: a knuckle duster and a rifle magazine.
