Revenue Seizes Over €1.2 Million in Contraband Across Multiple Operations
Revenue seizes over €1.2m in contraband including 37kg of cannabis at Dublin Port. Detector dogs assist in uncovering drugs destined nationwide.
Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €1.2 million during operations across Dublin, the Midlands and Rosslare Europort last week, with detector dogs playing a key role in uncovering illicit goods destined for addresses nationwide.
The seizures, made during the week commencing 24 November 2025, resulted from risk profiling and intelligence-led operations. Officers intercepted 60kg of herbal cannabis valued at over €1,175,500, various illicit drugs worth more than €11,650, tobacco products, alcohol, and 409 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €73,000.
The largest single seizure occurred at Dublin Port on Friday, 28 November, when officers discovered 37kg of herbal cannabis worth €740,000. The drugs were found during routine profiling of a vehicle that had arrived from Cherbourg, France, with the assistance of detector dog Alfie. An Garda Síochána arrested the driver of the vehicle, and investigations are ongoing.
Revenue's detector dogs Ciara, Sam and Alfie assisted in uncovering additional herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures, with parcels originating from the USA, Canada, Netherlands, the UK and France. Officers also seized 233g of Butane Honey Oil valued at €4,660 and 250.2g of synthetic cannabinoids worth over €5,000.
Tobacco products with an estimated value of over €2,625 were intercepted, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,905. Officers also seized more than 380 litres of alcohol valued at over €3,515, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,950.
The counterfeit goods, confirmed by rights holders to have infringed intellectual property rights, included items from brands such as Adidas, Nike, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and other major fashion labels. Revenue also seized 58 weapons, consisting of smoke bombs and shotgun cartridges.
