Revenue Seizes €425,000 Worth of Drugs, Counterfeit Goods and Weapons in Major Week-Long Operation

Revenue officers have seized contraband worth an estimated €425,660 in a series of operations across Dublin, the Midlands and Rosslare Europort over the past week.

The significant haul, which began on 7 July 2025, included 13.6kg of herbal cannabis valued at almost €271,400 and 254 counterfeit items worth nearly €133,500. The operations also netted various illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco products and 23 weapons.

Detector dogs Enzo and Ciara played a crucial role in discovering the herbal cannabis and illicit drugs during examinations of parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands. The parcels had originated from the USA, France, Canada and the UK, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

Among the seized drugs were HHC/cannabinoid vapes, 2MMC, edibles, khat, butane honey oil, magic mushrooms, synthetic cannabinoids, cocaine, MDMA, reefers and cannabis resin, with a combined value of over €6,300. Revenue officers also seized assorted tablets including alprazolam, benzodiazepine, diazepam, tapentadol and zopiclone, worth an estimated €2,260.

The counterfeit goods included items falsely branded as Adidas, Nike, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and even O'Neills sportswear. All items were confirmed by the rights holders to have infringed on intellectual property rights.

In separate operations across the three locations, officers seized 118 litres of alcohol (wine, beer and spirits) worth over €2,800, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €1,680. Tobacco products, including Nobel, L&B and Winston cigarettes, and Golden Virginia tobacco, were valued at over €9,400, representing a potential Exchequer loss of over €7,200.

The weapons haul was particularly concerning, including smoke bombs, a butterfly knife, a katana, khukuris, a short knife and a stiletto knife.

These seizures form part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
