Revenue Seize Over €654,000 in Contraband Including Drugs, Counterfeit Goods and Weapons Accessories
Revenue seize €654,000 in contraband including drugs and counterfeit goods, with parcels destined for addresses nationwide.
Revenue officers have seized contraband with an estimated value of over €654,000 following a series of operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort during the week commencing 23 March 2026.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence-led operations.
Among the seizures, 21.5kg of herbal cannabis was seized at Dublin Airport on 27 March 2026. Illicit drugs with an estimated value of over €430,000 were discovered concealed in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Malaga. One male, aged in his 30s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with the investigation.
In total, 26kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €523,000 was seized across the operations. The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara, Molly and Jasper, with parcels originating from the US, the UK, Canada, Thailand, the Netherlands and France, destined for various addresses nationwide.
Other seizures included 282 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €90,300, confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights; 672g of butane honey oil valued at over €13,400; 1.1kg of cannabis resin valued at over €6,800; tobacco products valued at over €8,200, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €6,200; over 309 litres of alcohol valued at over €4,200, representing a potential Exchequer loss of over €2,300; and various other illicit drugs valued at over €7,700.
Forty-nine weapons accessories were also seized, consisting of hand flares, flash bangers and a telescopic baton.
