Revenue have seized contraband worth more than €336,700 in a series of operations across Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort during the week beginning 15 September 2025, with parcels destined for addresses nationwide including Cork.
The seizures, resulting from intelligence-led operations and risk profiling, included significant quantities of illegal drugs, counterfeit goods, tobacco products, and weapons.
The largest component of the haul was nearly 10kg of herbal cannabis valued at almost €189,600, alongside 1.13kg of methamphetamine worth over €67,800. Officers also intercepted 2.07kg of cannabis resin valued at over €12,420 and various other illicit drugs worth more than €5,380.
Revenue's detector dog Ciara assisted in the drug detections, which originated from parcels sent from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and India. The packages were bound for various addresses across Ireland, meaning Cork residents could have been among the intended recipients.
Beyond narcotics, officers seized tobacco products valued at over €10,100, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €7,600. Three litres of alcohol worth nearly €90 were also confiscated, with a potential exchequer loss of €68.
The operations netted 231 counterfeit items valued at over €48,537, which were confirmed by rights holders to have infringed intellectual property laws. Additionally, thirteen weapons were seized along with 60 injectable substances including 50 Lidocaine injectables and 10 Lemon Bottle injectables.
These seizures form part of Revenue's ongoing campaign against smuggling and shadow economy activity. The successful operations demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led enforcement in intercepting contraband before it reaches communities across Ireland, including here in Cork.
Investigations into all seizures remain ongoing. Revenue continues to encourage businesses and members of the public with information regarding smuggling activities to contact them confidentially on 1800 295 295.
