Person rescued from water at Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven following multi-agency response involving coastguard, lifeboat and fire crews.
Emergency services successfully recovered a person from the water at the Royal Cork Yacht Club this evening following a multi-agency response involving coastguard, lifeboat and fire crews.
Crosshaven Coast Guard was tasked to the incident at 7:15pm on Monday evening after reports of a person in the water at the yacht club.
The rescue operation involved Crosshaven Coast Guard, RNLI Crosshaven Lifeboat Station and Crosshaven Fire & Rescue, who worked together to recover the casualty from the water.
The individual was successfully brought to safety and handed over to the National Ambulance Service for assessment and further medical care. The condition of the person has not been disclosed.
In a statement posted to social media, Crosshaven Coast Guard thanked all agencies involved for their swift and coordinated response to the incident.
The rescue service reminded the public of the importance of acting quickly in water emergencies. Anyone who sees someone in difficulty, or believes they may be in difficulty, should immediately dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard.
The prompt response highlights the value of Cork's integrated emergency services network, with multiple agencies able to mobilise quickly to incidents along the harbour coastline.
