Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Early Morning Bantry Collision

A man in his late 30s was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision in Bantry during the early hours of this morning.
The incident occurred in the townland of Donemark shortly after 3:00am when a vehicle struck a pedestrian. Gardaí and emergency services responded immediately to the scene.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The male driver of the vehicle, aged in his 20s, did not require medical attention and no other injuries were reported.
The road was temporarily closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a thorough examination of the scene. The investigation has been completed and the road has since reopened to traffic.
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward as investigations continue. Of particular interest is any road users who may have been travelling through the area between 2:30am and 3:00am and have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings.
