Parents Urged to Stop Using Infant Swimming Ring over Drowning Risk
Parents urged to stop using infant swimming ring batch QS0720 sold on SHEIN. Canopy can catch wind and capsize the seat. About 427 units in Ireland.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has warned parents to stop using an infant swimming ring sold on the SHEIN marketplace, after a safety issue was identified that carries a risk of injury and drowning.
The CCPC product safety notice, published on 05 November 2026, says the ring's canopy can catch the wind and cause the swim seat to capsize. If that happens, a child may become trapped by the leg openings, creating a risk of drowning.
The affected product is from batch number QS0720. The CCPC says approximately 427 affected products are in the Republic of Ireland. No Cork-specific sales or incidents have been confirmed, but the warning applies nationwide, including to anyone in Cork and Munster who bought the product online.
Anyone who has purchased one of these products should stop using it immediately, discard it and keep it out of the reach of children. Those seeking a refund, or with questions or concerns about the product, can contact SHEIN customer services by email at eurcsteam@shein.com.
Parents who are unsure whether their swimming ring is from the affected batch should check the batch number on the product or packaging and, if in doubt, stop using it.
