Over €472,000 Cannabis Seized in Cork Operation Tara Raid
Three arrested as Gardaí seize suspected herbal cannabis worth €472,000 in Cork intelligence-led operation today.
Three people have been arrested and approximately 23.6 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €472,000 has been seized following an intelligence-led operation in County Cork today.
An Garda Síochána, working alongside the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue Customs Service, carried out the operation on Wednesday 28th January 2026 as part of Operation Tara, the enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
Two males, both aged in their 30s, and one female, aged in her 20s, were arrested by An Garda Síochána. All three are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Garda stations in County Cork.
The Cork North West Divisional Drugs Unit was involved in the intelligence-led operation. The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Operation Tara aims to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels, including international, national, and local networks involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, and local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
Investigations are ongoing.
