Over 500 Young Rugby Players to Descend on Woodleigh Park for Highfield's Webb Ellis Festival
Over 500 young rugby players from 21 Munster clubs head to Woodleigh Park, Cork this Saturday for the Highfield RFC Webb Ellis Under-10 Festival.
More than 500 young rugby players from 21 clubs across Munster will gather at Highfield RFC's Woodleigh Park on Model Farm Road this Saturday for the Under-10 Webb Ellis Rugby Festival, one of the province's biggest youth rugby celebrations of the year.
The festival takes place on Saturday, 14 March 2026, running from 9am to 2pm, with matches getting underway at 10:30am. It is designed to give young players born in 2016 the chance to develop their skills in a fun, inclusive environment while forging friendships with children from clubs across the province.
Dave Hayes, Organiser, said:
The Webb Ellis Rugby Festival is about bringing the rugby community together and giving children the chance to play the game they love in a positive and supportive atmosphere. We are thrilled to host 21 clubs and over 500 participants this year and look forward to an exciting day of rugby. This event celebrates not just rugby but the sense of community that surrounds the game. We look forward to welcoming teams from across Munster and cheering on the next generation of players.
The festival will be run in accordance with Irish Rugby Football Union Mini Rugby guidelines, with each participating club providing a referee to support the running of matches. An Irish Red Cross medical team will be on site throughout the day to assist with player welfare, and lunch will be provided for players and coaches.
The day will conclude with all players gathering on the main pitch near the clubhouse for a closing ceremony to celebrate the young participants and their achievements.
This year's festival is supported by a range of sponsors including Healy Communications, Laser Medical, Corbett Heavy Lift, Inspire Credit Union, Provest, AIB, PharmacyFirstPlus, Sterling, Solarwinds and Stryker. The Highfield Blitz Committee extended its thanks to all sponsors and volunteers whose support makes the event possible.
With a large number of visiting teams and supporters expected, organisers are encouraging attendees to arrive early and follow the guidance of parking volunteers on the day. Bus parking has been arranged at the nearby Munster Technological University.
Woodleigh Park is located on Model Farm Road, Cork.
