OPW to Offer Free Irish Language Tours at Two Cork Heritage Sites for National Heritage Week
Anne's Grove Gardens and Doneraile Court will host free Irish language tours for National Heritage Week, 15 to 23 August 2026, OPW has announced.
Two of Cork's OPW heritage sites will host free Irish language tours this month, as the Office of Public Works marks National Heritage Week with a series of tours "as Gaeilge" at locations nationwide.
National Heritage Week runs from 15 to 23 August 2026. The initiative celebrates the Irish language and gives visitors a chance to experience Ireland's built heritage through Irish, according to the OPW.
In Cork, the free tours will take place at Anne's Grove Gardens and Doneraile Court and Estate. Both are among eighteen OPW locations taking part nationwide, alongside sites including Kilkenny Castle, Kilmainham Gaol Museum and Áras an Uachtaráin. The tours will be guided by OPW staff, who will share insights and stories in Irish.
Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW:
"National Heritage Week offers a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to engage with Ireland's rich cultural and built heritage. This year, I am delighted to announce that the OPW will be offering tours in Irish so that individuals, groups and families can experience our heritage sites through the Irish language."
