Ireland's seasonal heritage sites are set to reopen from tomorrow, 12 March 2026, with the Office of Public Works (OPW) inviting visitors to "explore the extraordinary" ahead of St. Patrick's weekend.

The announcement covers a wide range of sites across the country, with North Cork getting a direct mention: Annes Grove Gardens, described as a "horticulture paradise," will be among those welcoming visitors for the new season.

The OPW has put together a varied programme of events and itineraries for the year ahead, including music performances, spring lectures, Irish language tours, and Irish Sign Language tours at a number of locations.

Sites reopening this season include Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery in Sligo, DΓΊn Aonghasa on the Aran Islands, Ennis Friary in Clare, Portumna Castle and Gardens in Galway, and Tintern Cistercian Abbey in Wexford, alongside Annes Grove Gardens here in Cork.

Minister of State for the OPW, Kevin Boxer Moran, said:

"I am delighted to see the reopening of our seasonal heritage sites in time for St. Patrick's weekend. Our dedicated, expert Guides are the storytelling link between our heritage sites and our visitors. The guiding teams at OPW heritage sites provide a unique experience for visitors, showcasing Ireland's incredible history and cultural legacy.

These sites contribute to the local sense of place, the local economy and are great places for all the family to enjoy. I encourage everyone to explore and connect with their heritage this season. Our sites are the perfect backdrop to meet friends, engage with our heritage and experience the extraordinary places on our doorstep."
