OPW heritage sites offer free entry to under-18s all August plus special bank holiday events nationwide.

The Office of Public Works has unveiled a diverse programme of events for the August Bank Holiday weekend, featuring everything from farmers' markets to fairy trails, with heritage sites offering free admission to all visitors under 18 throughout August.
The nationwide programme spans multiple OPW locations and promises activities to suit all ages and interests. "This August Bank Holiday weekend, the Office of Public Works is delighted to invite the public to explore Ireland's rich culture and heritage. We are delighted to offer a series of engaging events, whether you are a history enthusiast, a family seeking adventure, or someone looking to connect with nature, there is something for everyone to enjoy."

The Fairy Door Trail at Charles Fort offers Cork families a magical adventure through the historic military fortress, combining imagination with heritage education in a unique outdoor experience.
A significant initiative sees all OPW heritage sites offering free admission to visitors under 18 throughout August 2025. This programme aims to remove financial barriers and encourage young people to engage with Ireland's cultural heritage during the summer holidays.
The OPW manages 780 heritage sites across Ireland, including national monuments, historic parks, gardens and buildings. These August Bank Holiday events demonstrate the organisation's commitment to making heritage accessible and engaging for all ages.
