Cork County Council has issued a Notice to Mariners confirming the presence of a sunken vessel in the Bandon River. The wreck is marked with a yellow/orange buoy, and mariners are requested to navigate with extreme caution in the area.

Notice to Mariners No. 17 of 2026 advises of the confirmed presence of a contemporary sunken vessel. It updates Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 2026, which has now been cancelled.

The notice is addressed to all ship owners, shipmasters, agents, fishing vessels, pleasure craft users, seafarers and fishery organisations.

According to the notice, the wreck is visible at Low Water and partially or fully submerged at other states of tide. It is marked with a yellow/orange buoy.

The exact position is given as 51°41' 52.6''N 008° 35'56.4' W.

Mariners are requested to navigate with extreme caution in the area, keep a good lookout, and give the wreck a wide berth.
