Nightworks to Begin on Sullivan's Quay as Uisce Éireann Upgrades City Centre Pump Station
Sullivan's Quay closes nightly from Monday for two weeks as Uisce Éireann works on Grand Parade pump station. Local access maintained.
Cork City residents can expect temporary road closures and diversions from Monday as Uisce Éireann begins essential wastewater infrastructure works in the Grand Parade area.
The project will see specialist contractors access the underground pump station on Grand Parade to remove redundant equipment, clean the facility, and clear historical debris. The works are expected to last approximately eight weeks.
A two-week period of nightworks will run from 5 January to 19 January along a section of Sullivan's Quay. Cork City Council has granted an associated road closure, though local and emergency access will be maintained throughout. Nightworks will take place between 7pm and 7am.
A temporary footpath closure will also be in place on Sullivan's Quay, with pedestrians diverted across Nano Nagle Bridge and along Grand Parade.
Following the nightworks phase, daytime works will continue at Grand Parade near Nano Nagle Bridge. Standard working hours will be 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
Temporary hoarding will be installed to secure the site and provide noise reduction for the surrounding area. Access to the 50 Grand Parade Car Park (Park it Here) will be maintained via a temporary pipe bridge.
David Shalloo, Uisce Éireann Portfolio Manager:
"This project will provide vital improvements to the operation of wastewater infrastructure in the heart of Cork City. In addition to supporting service improvements across the wastewater network, this project will lay the foundation for maintenance and improvement works in the future."
