New Link Road Opens in Glanmire as Part of Major Improvement Scheme
New link road at Dooley's Lane in Glanmire now open with full signal control at junction.
A new link road in Glanmire opened to traffic on Tuesday as part of Cork City Council's ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
The road, known locally as Dooley's Lane and designated as Project 8 within the Glanmire Roads Improvement Scheme, connects the L3010 at Riverstown to Hazelwood Road. Full traffic signal control is now operational at the junction.
The opening marks a significant milestone in efforts to relieve congestion at Riverstown Cross and improve connectivity in the Glanmire area. The scheme places strong emphasis on sustainable transport, with upgraded facilities that will eventually link into the wider Glanmire Greenway network.
Project 8 forms part of Contract 2 of the Glanmire Roads Improvement Scheme, with construction works having commenced in May 2025. The broader scheme includes multiple projects designed to improve accessibility, sustainability, capacity and safety across the transport network in Glanmire, Riverstown and Sallybrook.
The infrastructure development is being delivered with funding from the National Transport Authority.
