Nationwide Vehicle Convoys Planned for Tuesday - Gardaí Advise Cork Drivers to Allow Extra Time

An Garda Síochána has issued a public advisory ahead of planned vehicle gatherings at locations across the country tomorrow, Tuesday, 7th April 2026.

Gardaí say it is proposed that convoys of vehicles, including HGVs, agricultural and plant vehicles, will gather at various locations nationwide. The convoys are expected to travel primarily along National Primary Routes, with some remaining in regional locations and others travelling to Dublin to congregate there.

If the convoys proceed as proposed, Gardaí expect significant additional traffic, including slow-moving vehicles, on main arterials leading to Dublin and in the vicinity of large urban areas from 08:00hrs.

Gardaí have had limited interaction with those involved in organising the convoys, as the majority of organisation is taking place on social media platforms and messaging apps. An Garda Síochána has said it is not in a position to provide accurate or detailed advice to the public at this time.

Cork drivers using National Primary Routes tomorrow are among those advised to plan their journeys carefully, leaving additional time for possible traffic disruptions and to expect delays if congestion arises.

An Garda Síochána has stated it respects the constitutional rights of citizens to protest peacefully, while also noting its obligation to balance those rights against the freedom of individuals to travel and the ability of commercial organisations to conduct business.

Gardaí will provide further updates via press releases and Garda social media channels where appropriate and required.
