National Services Day Returns to Mahon Point Shopping Centre

Cork families are invited to celebrate Ireland's emergency services and defence forces at National Services Day, taking place at Mahon Point Shopping Centre on Saturday, 6th September from 11am to 4pm.

The free community event brings together over 20 services, offering visitors the chance to meet personnel, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, and enjoy interactive displays designed for all ages. This annual celebration recognises the vital work of Ireland's Defence Forces and both full-time and voluntary emergency services across Cork.

Confirmed participants include An Garda Síochána, Cork County Fire Service, National Ambulance Service, Irish Red Cross Cork City, Order of Malta Ireland, Critical Emergency Medical Response, CFR Ireland, and Cork West Civil Defence, among many others. Each service will showcase their equipment and operations through hands-on demonstrations and activities.

Families can expect a packed programme of activities throughout the five-hour event. Children and adults alike will have opportunities to sit in emergency vehicles, learn about life-saving equipment, and speak directly with the personnel who respond to emergencies across Cork daily. The interactive nature of the displays ensures engagement for visitors of all ages.

The event, which has become a fixture in Cork's calendar, continues to grow each year thanks to support from Mahon Point Shopping Centre. Organisers emphasise that admission is completely free, with no booking required, making it accessible to all families across the county.

Local media partners supporting the event include Cork's 96FM, Cork's Red FM, Cork City Community Radio, Cork Independent, Cork Safety Alerts, The Southern Star, Emergency Services Ireland, and Emergency Times. Their involvement helps spread awareness of this important community celebration.

With just one week to go, organisers are encouraging families to mark their calendars for what promises to be an exciting day celebrating those who serve Cork communities every day. The central location at Mahon Point ensures easy access for visitors from across Cork city and county.
