TII lists two westbound closures on the N40 between J5 Togher and J2 Curraheen in Cork, with all lanes affected, due to roadworks.

The first closure is listed from 21:00 on Monday 19 October to 06:00 on Tuesday 20 October. The listing describes this end time as tentative. A second closure is listed from 21:00 on Tuesday 20 October to 06:00 on Wednesday 21 October.

Motorists should plan an alternative route and allow extra travel time.

TII’s comment advises drivers approaching the roadworks area to drive with caution, be aware of road workers, reduce their speed and obey changes to road layouts.

These listings cover a wider westbound section than the earlier council notice. Whether they replace that notice remains unconfirmed.

Details are on the TII traffic closure listing, which was updated at 12:32 and 12:34 on 19 October. Checked 12:39, 19 October 2026, Europe/Dublin.
