N40 Kinsale Road Roundabout Night Works Begin Tonight
Kinsale Road Roundabout night works start TONIGHT 20:30. Diversions in place for 5 weeks.

Motorists are advised that major resurfacing works at the N40 Junction 6 (Kinsale Road Roundabout) will commence tonight, with the first closures taking effect from 20:30 this evening.
The extensive roadworks programme will run for approximately five weeks, with night-time closures scheduled between 20:30 and 05:30 from Monday through Saturday. Cork Airport has issued an urgent advisory for passengers travelling during these hours to allow additional time for their journeys.
Local diversions will be in place and clearly signposted to guide traffic safely around the work site. The junction, which serves as a critical access point for Cork Airport traffic as well as routes to Kinsale, Togher, and Frankfield, will see all lanes reinstated each morning before peak traffic periods.
The timing of the works has been carefully planned to minimise disruption to daytime commuters and business traffic. However, evening and night-time users of this busy interchange will need to follow diversion routes throughout the five-week programme.
Passengers with late evening departures or early morning arrivals at Cork Airport should be particularly mindful of the potential delays. The Kinsale Road Roundabout handles thousands of vehicles daily, making it one of the most important junctions on Cork's road network.
The resurfacing works form part of essential maintenance to ensure the junction continues to operate safely and efficiently. With works scheduled Monday through Saturday nights, Sunday evening traffic will remain unaffected.
Motorists planning to use the junction from tonight onwards should familiarise themselves with the diversion routes. The 20:30 start time means rush hour traffic should clear before closures begin, but those travelling later in the evening will encounter the diversions.
All affected routes will have clear signage directing traffic around the works, with the programme scheduled to continue until early September.
