N40 Eastbound Closure at Junction 7 Overnight for Line Marking Works
N40 eastbound closed from Junction 7 tonight (22 April), 22:30 to 04:30, for line marking works. Diversion via R610 rejoining at J9 Bloomfield.
Motorists are advised that the N40 eastbound will be closed from Junction 7 (South Douglas) overnight on Wednesday 22 April 2026 to facilitate line marking works, with a diversion in place via the R610 (Rochestown Road) and traffic rejoining the N40 at Junction 9 (Bloomfield).
According to Cork City Council's alerts system, the closure will be in place from 22:30 to 04:30, with the works being carried out by contractor Egis Lagan.
Traffic travelling eastbound on the N40 will be diverted from Junction 7 onto the R610 (Rochestown Road), before rejoining the mainline at Junction 9 (Bloomfield).
Motorists should allow extra travel time for journeys during the closure period and follow the diversion signage in place.
