N28 Overnight Roadworks at Carr's Hill Scheduled for Next Week
  • Cork City Council will carry out overnight roadworks on the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Road at Carr's Hill from Monday, 8 September to Friday, 12 September, with works taking place between 20:30 and 06:00 each night.

The works, being carried out by Cork City Council on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, will affect a stretch of the N28 from the Mount Oval Slip Road to just south of the Old Carrigaline Road Junction. The overnight scheduling should minimise disruption to daytime traffic on this vital link to Ringaskiddy.

While the road will remain open throughout the construction period, motorists travelling during the overnight hours should expect delays due to localised Stop/Go systems operating along the affected stretch. The late evening and early morning timing means most commuters and port traffic should avoid the worst of the disruption.

The N28 serves as the main artery connecting Cork city to Ringaskiddy and is regularly used by heavy goods vehicles accessing the Port of Cork, as well as workers commuting to major employers including Pfizer, Novartis, and other pharmaceutical facilities in the Ringaskiddy area.

Carr's Hill is a particularly busy section of the route, with the Mount Oval area providing access to residential developments and the Old Carrigaline Road Junction serving as an important local connector. The overnight scheduling from Monday to Friday nights should allow normal weekend traffic flow.

Those who regularly travel this route during late evening or early morning hours, including shift workers at Ringaskiddy facilities and overnight port traffic, should plan for additional journey time between 20:30 and 06:00 next week.

Cork City Council has thanked the public in advance for their cooperation during the construction period. Motorists can expect normal traffic flow during daytime hours, with all works confined to the overnight period.
