N20 Ballybeg Bends to Close for Daytime Roadworks Until 16 October
N20 closed weekdays 08:00-20:00 at Ballybeg Bends (New Twopothouse to Lisballyhay) until 16 Oct for resurfacing.
Drivers on the N20 face weeks of daytime diversions as Cork County Council carries out resurfacing works at Ballybeg Bends, near Buttevant.
The council will temporarily close the N20 National Primary Road between New Twopothouse (N20/R581) and Lisballyhay Junction (N20/L-1328-0) from Tuesday 29 September to Friday 16 October, between 08:00 and 20:00 on weekdays. The closure is being carried out under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 to allow removal and resurfacing of failed sections of pavement, along with strengthening works, road markings and traffic management.
Northbound traffic will be diverted right at New Twopothouse onto the R581 towards Doneraile, continuing through the village onto the L-1328-0 for roughly 9.3km before turning right to rejoin the N20 at Lisballyhay Junction. Southbound traffic will be diverted left at Lisballyhay Junction onto the L-1328-0, continuing for approximately 9.3km onto the R581 through Doneraile, before turning left to rejoin the N20 at New Twopothouse.
No through traffic will be permitted during the closure, with exemptions for emergency services, Bus Éireann and local school buses. Local access to Buttevant will be maintained from the northern side of the closure. The council says diversion routes will be fully signposted, with advance notice given via variable message signs.
