A man in his 30s has died following a collision involving a motorcycle and car on the N71 at Caha Pass. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A man in his 30s has died following a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the N71 at Caha Pass, Co. Cork.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:55pm this afternoon, Thursday, 20 August 2026.

Gardaí said the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

No other injuries were reported.

The N71 was closed following the collision to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination of the scene. The examination has since been completed and the road has reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation.

In particular, anyone who was travelling on the N71 between Glengarriff and Kenmare at Caha Pass today and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

Gardaí have specifically appealed to road users who were in the area between 2:15pm and 2:45pm.
