Most Traffic Lights Restored Across Cork City Following Network Outage
🚦 Council prioritised major junctions, but caution is still advised on approach.
At 16:11 today Gardaí confirmed that traffic lights in many parts of Cork City had gone out of action, with motorists advised to take extra care when approaching junctions.
Cork City Council later confirmed the outage was caused by a network issue. Crews worked to restore signals, prioritising major intersections such as Cork University Hospital, before moving on to smaller junctions.
The Council explained that some signals could be brought back online remotely from the control room, while others required on-site crews to carry out manual repairs.
Most traffic lights are now back in operation, but drivers are asked to continue exercising caution in the interim.
