Met Éireann Updates Advisory as Hot Weather Set to Continue Through the Weekend and Into Next Week
Met Éireann warns hot weather will continue through the weekend and into next week, with highs near 30 degrees and high UV levels forecast nationwide.
Met Éireann has updated its nationwide advisory confirming that a prolonged spell of very warm or hot weather will continue this weekend, lasting into next week.
The advisory, first issued on 6 July 2026 at 15:17 and updated on 10 July 2026 at 14:06, states that daytime maxima will widely exceed 25 degrees, with values reaching the high 20s and possibly 30 degrees in places. The UV Index is expected to be high to very high. Warm and humid nights are also forecast, with minima of 15 degrees or higher. Met Éireann has noted the chance of thunderstorms developing on Wednesday and Thursday.
The advisory warns of a number of potential impacts, including water safety issues due to increased use of waterways, lakes and beaches, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, and heat stress and dehydration, particularly for the vulnerable and elderly. Disruption to public transport, animal welfare issues, potential drought concerns, and the risk of wildfires and forest fires have also been flagged.
The advisory applies to Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow. It took effect from 8 July 2026 and remains in place until 17 July 2026.
