Met Éireann Issues Yellow Snow/Ice Warning for Cork and Waterford
Rain turning to snow with possible accumulations.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Snow/Ice warning for Cork and Waterford, in effect until 8:00 PM this evening as rain turns to snow across the region.
The national weather service issued the warning at 5:20 PM today (Sunday, 4 January), advising that rain will turn to snow as it clears southwards this evening with some accumulations possible.
The warning highlights potential hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility as the weather system moves through the affected counties.
The Status Yellow alert, the lowest level of weather warning, indicates conditions that could pose a risk to those exposed to them. Motorists are advised to exercise caution on the roads and allow extra time for journeys.
The warning is due to expire at 8:00 PM tonight, suggesting the snow event will be relatively short-lived as the system clears the region.
Cork and Waterford are the only two counties affected by this evening's snow/ice warning.
