Met Éireann Issues Yellow Rainfall Warning for Cork and Waterford

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Rainfall Warning for Cork and Waterford, with persistent heavy rain and possible thunder expected to bring localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions tomorrow.

The warning was issued this morning at 10:35 and comes into effect from 3:00am on Thursday 30 April. It is due to remain in place until 6:00pm on Thursday evening, covering a 15-hour window.

According to Met Éireann, persistent rain will be heavy, and possibly thundery, at times across the two counties.

The forecaster has flagged three potential impacts during the warning period: localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, and poor visibility.

Cork motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly on routes prone to surface water build-up. Drivers should reduce speed in heavy rain and avoid driving through flooded roads.
