Met Éireann Issues Yellow Rainfall Warning for Cork

Updated at November 10, 2025 - 11:58 am.

Met Éireann has issued two separate Yellow Rainfall Warnings affecting Cork and eight other counties, with spells of heavy rain expected to bring localised flooding and difficult travel conditions throughout Tuesday.

The national forecaster issued the warnings at 11:50 and 11:51 this morning, Monday 10 November, with Cork and Kerry facing the earliest onset of heavy rain from midnight tonight.

The first warning covers Cork and Kerry from 00:00 on Tuesday morning until 14:00 on Tuesday afternoon, a 14-hour period. The second warning affects Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Tipperary and Waterford from 02:00 on Tuesday morning until 17:00 on Tuesday evening, a 15-hour period.

Both warnings highlight the risk of localised flooding, difficult travel conditions and poor visibility. Motorists and those travelling on Tuesday should allow extra time for journeys and exercise caution on the roads.

According to Met Éireann's forecast, conditions will turn wet and blustery from the southwest tonight as cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle gradually spread northeastwards across the country. Some of the rain will be heavy, with spot flooding possible.

Tuesday is expected to be a wet and blustery day, with the rain heavy at times and localised flooding likely. Temperatures will reach 12 to 15 degrees, with moderate to fresh, occasionally strong and gusty southeast winds veering southerly.

The staggered timing of the warnings reflects the expected progression of the rain system, which will affect Cork and Kerry first before moving into the southeastern counties. Cork residents should expect the heaviest rainfall during Tuesday morning, with conditions improving by early afternoon.

Residents across all affected counties are advised to stay informed about changing conditions and to take necessary precautions during Tuesday.
