Met Éireann Issues Yellow Rain Warning for Cork as Weekend Washout Approaches
Cork braces for weekend downpours as Met Éireann issues yellow rain warning. Spot flooding and difficult travel conditions expected Saturday and Sunday.

Cork should prepare for a soggy weekend as Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning, effective from 10:00 tomorrow morning until 10:00 on Sunday.
The national weather service warns of spells of heavy rain with possible isolated thunderstorms across Cork and Kerry, bringing risks of spot flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travel conditions. The warning, issued this morning at 10:30, comes as the county prepares for what looks set to be a thoroughly damp weekend.
After today's mixed conditions of cloudy skies, patchy drizzle, and gradual brightening with temperatures reaching 17 to 20 degrees, the weather picture takes a decidedly wetter turn. Tonight will remain largely dry with isolated showers possible, but rain will begin developing in the southwest of the province towards morning.
Saturday will start dry but showery outbreaks of rain will extend from the southwest, turning heavy at times with spot flooding possible. Temperatures will be slightly cooler at 16 to 19 degrees, with moderate to occasionally fresh southeasterly winds developing.
Sunday continues the unsettled theme with a mix of sunny spells and showers or showery outbreaks of rain, some heavy with possible thunderstorms. The south of the county is expected to fare better, staying generally drier than northern areas.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys and exercise caution on roads, particularly in areas prone to surface water. Those with outdoor weekend plans may want to have indoor alternatives ready.
The outlook beyond the weekend remains mixed but with more dry intervals expected as the weather pattern gradually settles.
