Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning for Cork and ten other counties, with wintry conditions expected to set in from this evening.

The warning, issued at 10:40 this morning, is valid from 21:00 tonight, Thursday 12 March, through to 09:00 tomorrow morning, Friday 13 March.

Cork is among eleven counties covered by the alert, alongside Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, and Wicklow.

Met Éireann has warned that showers may fall as sleet or snow overnight, with some accumulations possible, particularly on higher ground. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to expect difficult travelling conditions and reduced visibility during the warning period.

Those travelling on elevated routes across Cork and the wider Munster region are urged to allow extra time, drive to conditions, and consider delaying journeys until after the warning lifts at 09:00 tomorrow morning.
