Mental Health Event Draws Large Crowds to Mallow Castle
Large crowds enjoyed Together at the Castle in Mallow on Sunday as 50 groups showcased mental health supports and wellbeing activities.

The popular Together at the Castle event returned to Mallow on Sunday, drawing large crowds for an afternoon dedicated to mental health awareness, community connection, and celebrating wellbeing across North Cork.
The free event, held at Mallow Castle from 1pm to 5pm on 7 September, brought together families and individuals of all ages for what has become a cornerstone gathering in the region's calendar. Organised by HSE South West alongside Mallow Chamber of Commerce, Cork County Council, Cork Mental Health Foundation, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, See Change, SHINE, and An Garda Síochána, the afternoon showcased the collaborative spirit that makes North Cork communities strong.
Up to 50 local and regional organisations participated, offering everything from creative workshops to health information stands. The diverse range of activities ensured there was something for everyone, whether families looking for engaging activities or individuals seeking information about mental health supports available in their area.
The event's timing aligned perfectly with See Change's national Green Ribbon campaign, which celebrated its 11th anniversary this year. Running throughout September, the campaign encourages open conversations about mental health whilst challenging the stigma and discrimination that can prevent people from seeking help.
The welcoming atmosphere at Mallow Castle reinforced the event's core message: that mental health is a shared journey and support is accessible to everyone in the community. From young families to older residents, the afternoon demonstrated how bringing people together in an open, positive environment can strengthen the social fabric that supports wellbeing.
Together at the Castle continues to grow each year, cementing its position as a vital date for North Cork residents. The event's success reflects both the dedication of its organisers and the community's commitment to prioritising mental health and wellbeing for all ages.
The collaborative approach between statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and local groups shows how effective partnerships can create meaningful community events that genuinely make a difference to people's lives.
