McCormack Farms Recall Update: Two More Spinach Products Added
FSAI Update 2: McCormack Farms adds two more spinach products to recall - 500g packs and Fresh Choice Market brand.

Food safety authorities have issued Update 2 to the McCormack Family Farms fresh produce recall, adding two more spinach products to the list of items being withdrawn due to confirmed detection of Listeria monocytogenes.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland released the second update to alert 2025.35 today, following the original alert and Update 1 issued previously. Authorities have stated there is currently no evidence that this food recall is linked with the listeriosis outbreak related to ready-to-heat meals that is currently under investigation.
The two additional products being recalled are:
McCormack Family Farms Irish Spinach Leaves (500g) with batch codes L199, L200, L202, L203, L204 and L205
Fresh Choice Market Spinach Leaves (100g) with use-by dates 25/07/2025, 26/07/2025, 27/07/2025, 28/07/2025, 29/07/2025, 30/07/2025 and 31/07/2025
Both products are being recalled due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers are advised not to eat these products and should check their refrigerators for items matching these specifications.
The McCormack Family Farms product is identified by specific batch codes printed on packaging, whilst the Fresh Choice Market spinach is identified by use-by dates covering a seven-day period.
Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause mild flu-like symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Pregnant women, babies, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections.
The incubation period averages three weeks but can range between three and 70 days. Anyone who has consumed recalled products and feels unwell should seek medical advice.
Retailers are removing the implicated products from sale and displaying recall notices at point-of-sale. Wholesalers and distributors must contact affected customers and recall the products whilst providing point-of-sale notices to retailers. Caterers should not use the implicated products.
This update follows previous alerts 2025.35 and 2025.35 (Update 1) for other McCormack Family Farms spinach and mixed leaf products.
